The new trends rely heavily on travertine, limestone and rusticated marbles for their inviting, soft appeal (opposed to highly polished marbles that give a hard sharp effect). Limestone, while typically a softer material, can withstand more foot traffic because of new high tech applications, as compared to polished marble which scratches more easily.
